Automatic Transmission - 1 gear jolt/thump |
|
Hi there,
Sorry if this topic has been covered before, I am aware I had previously posted a similar thread and had some great insights and replies via but the issue still persists.
I reported the issue of what seems to be the 1st gear jolt, that is, only when the car has warmed up, commonly in heavy bumper to bumper traffic when I slow down and before I come to a complete stop, the car (gearbox) seems to jolt, similar feeling to a slow rear-end collision.
I have had the car since 140KM and now on 190KM the issues persists.
I have had the transmission oil changed at 150KM as well as the memory reset option.
There is a slight whining noise from the rear and it was reported to be a whining rear diff which I have learnt to live with and it isn't a big nuisance.
But I wonder if these symptoms mean something or if anyone has had similar issue in the past?
Do you think a whining read diff could be the cause of a jolt/thump/jerk to the gearbox?
Only when slowing down to a complete stop?
The issue only occurs when the stuck in heavy traffic, on open roads the car drives like a dream and all other gear changes are smooth.
I have read a number of posts and had great insights from all replies; I am still baffled as to what the issue may be. Read diff, crank shaft or gearbox??
Appreciate again if any of you can related or provide some feedback which I will take to my workshop or LR specialist in Sydney.
Thanking you for your time.
Regards
Gab

It’s usually a software issue that has been known to be cured by installing the latest gb software available for your specific gb via an Iid tool and was available for a modest £25 from GAP with a fast track internet supply of 24 hours
p.s. look on their Webb site (gap-diagnostics)for more info. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
