Ayamonte ... 20km. Alternator DEAD... |
|
Actually I am in Portugal, just 20km from Ayamonte. The dealer in Faro is closed, maybe for a long time, since the national holidays started today...
I found a dealer in Spain , ´Gysa ´ , just 20Km from here in Ayamonte, but they are closed too..
Anybody knows;
- if FIAAL in Faro opens on monday;
- Gysa can fix it in my garage, or do they have to trailer it to their workshop;
I think I remembered a D3 automatic can not be towed at all ... ???
We are on the top of a hill, 15km from the nearest village... Luckilly we were on our way back from shopping, so we will not starve overnight...
Please advise..

Repaired ! I managed to get an appointment with FIAAL in Faro.
The man from GYSA in Ayamonte responded to my email, but when he did I was already in the
truck that transported my car to Faro.
I had the car transported to Faro on monday, but FIAAL had to order the alternator. They dropped a call thursday morning that it would be ready at 12h that day.
I was very happy since we can return to the Netherlands as sceduled on sunday, and not have to change around all reservations for the hotels on the way... Very Happy
They replaced the alternator in one hour. The rate is just under € 50 per hour in wages ! But the part Shocked cost here € 475,83 ex VAT of 23%... I have seen on this forum is costs arounf GBP 160 in the UK. My dealer in NL says it goes for € 238 as a reconditioned part Confused
Does anybody have contacts with LR IBERIA to find out why this part is so exessively expensive here, also on exchange basis !!!
