Back from the DARK side!
Well guys n girls after two fantastic years owning and driving a Range Rover Sport TDV8 I am back in the fold of the Discovery section(dare I say D4).
Having had a D3 before the TDV8 it goes without saying the two are very different beasts and NON comparable on most levels. I have to say the TDV8 has been a absolute pleasure to own and drive 25k miles 10k towing a 1900kg outfit all over Europe down as far as Croatia. NO reported problems, NO mechanical breakdowns TOP marks LR
I never thought I would be sad parting with an LR, but I truly am with this baby
A lifestyle change has made me go full circle and bring me back to where I (re-caught) the bug
I kept the faith even having had two D2 prior to the D3.........
My new toy arrives this Friday spec as follows.
D4 3.0 TDV6 HSE MY2010
Zermatt Silver
Ebony Premium leather, Ebony carpets
Tow pack(13pin)
20" Split Spoke Alloys
Full size spare

Looking forward to years of trouble free LR motoring D4 3.0 HSE cameras,Hybrid TV, 20" alloys, heated wheel, privacy, Tow pack.
Departed RRS TDV8 HSE Full Arden kit in TEAL and colour coded everything.
Departed Disco 3 2.7 HSE
I never drive faster than I can see!

Chris, It might look like the Elddis Crusader Supercyclone but actually it's a Compass Rallye 644 (its identical twin I believe) - The layout is identical but and they are both made by Explorer Group
I bet there's not much apart from the name LOL
Got the Truma mover but not the aircon

Hi Pete, I dont take delivery until this Friday so cant give a full appraisal for a while! I will post as often as I can with all likes and dislikes etc as I go(so to speak).
I only get to drive it at the weekends when we tend to go shed dragging
The test drive(2 hours) left me feeling very positive The ride was better on all road surfaces than the sport but that is down to the difference in tyres and suspension setup. Like I said in my first post," They are two totally different beasts" Power was very inpressive, no real dead leg just progresive through out the rev range Very quit inside and out, BUT NO V8 burble I love having all that space back its real theatre inside the NEW 4! In essence I am sure this LR will be a massive hit with old D3 owners like myself(once they are over the whole green eyed monster thing)
I think I will need couselling to help me get over the loss of my Sport though!
I never got round to post any photos of it in my gallery but I will now! You will see why I am hurting soooo bad!
Cheers

Keep us posted....we should get a report Friday arvo.
I wonder if that TDV8 can be shoe horned into an old D3....the passion is coming back.
Mine hasn't needed attention for over a week, although i do have a near side tie rod on order
Heading off on Monday for to the centre of NSW for a week then down the Darling River for ten days.
lets pray she makes it Pete
