Hello
I have a disco 4 gs with 16000 miles on it, recently i have been experincing really bad vibration through the drivers seat whilst the car is in Drive at idle speed as soon as you set off and the revs pass 1000 the vibration go, no vibration above that, anyone had the same problems?

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem on my 2012 SDV6 HSE, I am getting severe vibration at idle speed which seems to resonate through the car, it dissapears above 1000rpm. I lifted bonnet and felt the top of the engine whilst running at idle speed and it seemed to be vibrating severely.
I would be grateful for any ideas on the matter?
Thanks
Bob...

Sounds as if its not running on all cylinders when idling.
Would certainly get it to the dealer to check out....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

But if it's happening on tick over ( with driver out the D4) it won't be the prop....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Thanks for your advice, It is very strange as it runs smooth as silk whilst driving around and only starts when rpm falls below about 1000rpm.
I shall take it into the dealers on Friday so they can have a quick look, trouble is I am supposed to be towing the caravan up to Scotland on Friday night!

Took the car back to Stratstones today and one of the mechanics had a look for me.
First of all he said that it is not unusual to feel a slight vibration from the engine at low rpm, anyway he had a look under the bonnet and said that the vibration you can feel from the engine was fairly normal - OK.
Then we went for a test drive and said that he also sensed the vibration too and went on to completly baffle me with talk about Hi boxes, air suspension pumps and the like! To be honest the vibration I feel in the car is only slight so I may have over exaggerated the point.
Anyway he said I shouldn't worry about it whilst in Scotland and if it still buggs me when I got back home to take it in and they will have a good look for me, can't say fairer than that now can they!
Thanks for your help anyway chaps

I took delivery of my disco 4 yesterday and I have the same problem. When the car revs goes below 1000rpm the car vibration increases and while I am driving over 1000rpm the car is smooth.
The dealer had a test drive and said all disco 4 vibrates a little, hr proved it to me my showing me another D4 that had 300 miles on the clock. But the problem I am experiencing is that when I am coming to a stop and when the car goes below 1000rpm the car vibration increases and this should not be the case.
I have told dealer that I will drive this car for 1000 miles an if it has not got any better then I want it taken in for a full investigation.

I agree and will drop mine in for further investigation when I get home. A car of this quality or any car for that matter should definately not have these problems.
PS,
Her indoors wouldn't know a vibration if she fell over it, as long as the heated seats work she is oblivious to all else!

I had a loud vibration rattle at idle. Tracked it down to some tin plates under the car (roughly under friont passenger) that were close enough to hit the main floor if the vibration was big enough. A gentle pull witht he fingers stopped the noise. Another time I drove througha large puddle a bit quik and it came back. I guess a little upward pressure is enough to move the panel (heat shield? close enough.d4 HSE

After a 1000 mile round trip to Scotland towing the caravan, everything is now running smoothly - no vibration to speak of at tickover. I averaged 25.6 mpg for the entire trip which I don't think is bad because I only got about 22mpg out of my Freelander 2 when towing. All in all I think it just needed a good run.
