Would love to know as they wont do mine under LR Extended warranty and I am going to the ombudsman as they obviously are not fit for purpose.

Manufacturers warranty they would be covered...
Not covered under extended as they are classed as wear and tear... TLO has left the building.......

If they wear out prematurely or due to manufacturing fault then they would be covered under extended. You can't offer a restrictive mileage term (i.e less than 60K miles to take out warranty) and then put it down to wear and tear. The 60K limit to take the extended rather than select cover is indicative that parts covered would not normally be subject to wear and tear at that age otherwise the restriction has no basis. The fact a new design exists to combat this issue is also an indication of manufacturing/design issue's.
I would fight for them to be paid for.

Just so people know.
The new design ball joints RBK500230 & RBK500240 which were £125 each when first released have now been reduced as they have come into the mainstream parts supply £22 each...
If you have to have ball joints replaced (RBK500040) insist on having these fitted instead of the earlier versions. TLO has left the building.......

[Thanks The Large One. Excuse my ignorance but would I be right in thinking that what's in the top box is the front upper suspension arm and what's in the lower box is the front lower suspension arm? Is the bar in the middle the anti-roll bar? Is there one ball joint for the upper arm and one ball joint for the lower arm?

Sorry The Large One but can you help me with my earlier question?
Thanks [/quote]

That's a big reduction (suprising how much 2.5% vat off makes ) How does the price of the new assembly compare with the price of a the old replacement ball joint? Should be quicker to fit as you don't need to remove the worn ball joint from the arm, so labour should be cheaper too

The original price of £125 was for a ball joint only, not the complete arm i know a strange price it was.... so will be the same labour price to replace TLO has left the building.......

Mine was into the dealer yesterday for geometry check as it is pulling to the left, they called back and said there is play in the ball joints, the car is just 12 months old and done 20k miles, anyway it is booked in again next Wednesday to have the uprated ball joints fitted, just in time as we are off to the South of France on Friday I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

I'd really appreciate some input on 2 ball joint questions.
1. Can the new uprated ball joints be fitted to an 05MY vehicle (my dealer says not)?
2. Can the ball joints be fitted separately from the lower control arms or do they have to be fitted together?
Thanks in advance!
