Thanks 10forcash.
Is this a job worth doing pre-emptively, or should I just wait until the exisiting ball joints have had it?

Depends, if you mainly drive on road then you'll hear them knocking progressively more as they wear, if you articulate the suspension off road a lot and / or put extreme loads on at acute steering angles, i'd get them changed as soon as any wear is detected - or before a long trip.
The failure of these ball joints is more common on the RRS, presumably from climbing steep curb stones in carparks

Thanks again.
The front suspension is knocking badly and the bushes on the lower control arms are being replaced shortly (under extended warranty). Perhaps I should just get the ball joints done at the same time...

The knock could be due to worn bushes, i'd get the ball joints checked before the work commences though

I think the whole lower control arm along with bushes needs to be replaced with the newer part.
As TFC said will fit any MY.
Part Nos of new bits:
RBK500230
RBK500240
Tell your dealer to fit those. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

you can tell the difference between the 2 by a very slight chamfer on the outter rim of the machined part of the joint
First, greetings from an 07RRS owner.
I guess this picture is the old design as I can't see any chamfer worthy of the name. Can you confirm that this is the original failure prone 32mm not the new 35mm design please.
This is one of the two that were fitted under warranty last April and I had assumed they would be to the new design but both old and new design were listed in Microcat then with a change part way through the 09MY. As mine is an 07MY does this mean that you cannot in fact fit the new type without using a new wishbone as well - I find that hard to believe?
