THere seem to be some issues with non payment of extended warranties over their. LR are replacing under warranty so why not yours? Also are LR not admitting a design fault by producing the new part? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Ball Joints Suspension arms and warranties |
|
Hello All,
I have just had the old girl back from the dealership and the assessor from LR warrany says no he wont agree to repair them because at my mileage that equates to wear and tear. So I ask myself what is the point of shelling out for the warranty if you have dome more than a few miles.
It does say EXTENDED warranty doesnt it.
The dealership (Guy Salmon Coventry) have been fantastic, collecting and delivering the car and advising me to MOT it and see if it fails on the ball joints and then claim on the MOT failure part of the warranty!!!
I can only say that Lynne and Brian on service have ben superb and agree with me that LR warrany are taking the in a big way.
I have to say im not sure I will bother with the warranty again next year - theres no point and could put the money to the inevitable repairs anyway!!!
I hope this helps you guys who are considering bying the warranty.
The mot is scheduled for the 10th December so I will keep you posted,
Im may have to consider getting rid of the old girl as I need a reliable motor and warranty becuase of the miles I cover. All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.

Another completely unnecessary quote removed - Countrywide, click this link now!
How many miles have you done. The extended full warranty (not select) can only be bought if you have done less than 60K miles. So if you were able to buy the warranty and it is unlimited mileage once you bought it, then it can't be wear and tear. I would say it is premature wear.

Then I would send a legal letter to Land Rover, they are talking utter rubbish. Ball joints should not wear at 59K unless there is a design fault. Funnily enough we all know it's a design fault, which is why so many have been replaced and there is a new design.
Did they inspect your car at 51K when you bought the warranty or did you buy the warranty when it was serviced. If it has failed only 8K miles later and wasn't spotted before, then it must be premature wear.
Take legal action against them, others have claimed and I am sure you could get information from them to use.

Cheers Guys,
No they didnt inspect it when they offered me the extended cover.
However it has MDFSH so if there was a problem they need to ask.
I am going to formulate a legal response but Im going to calm down first.
Yes myself and the dealer have spoke to LR customer services and the tech guy I spoke to admitted they are a design fault.
REally peeued off.
X5 next? (sorry didnt me to blaspheem!) All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.

Sorry to hijack your thread there bigdave, but i am still waiting for GS Coventry to call me back to arrange the warranty repair on my BJ's that they noticed on the 45k service. The service was carried out in September and Lynne was the person who i dealt with, and have left several messages for since.
Needless to say, im not going back to GS Coventry.

Damn it, you've got me baulking now bigdave. I've just sent the papers off for this Approved Warranty at £1055 inc LRA. (I was intending paying in 10 instalments, interest free)......and was (sort of) happy until I read this thread.....My D3 is 3 yrs old in a few days, and has done 29k, just serviced / 1st MOT.......Are they going to feed me this 'wear and tear' garbage if anything goes wrong? I was told not by the man at the dealers....... but unfortunately they are not the administrators of this policy. What the hell do I do now?... Yes I could 'wing it', but having heard other peoples horror stories,(some, at ridiculously low mileages), I just don't feel I can have this car without some form of warranty. HELP!!

on a more positive note I have the extended warranty and it has paid for itself within the first month in the form of a new alternator and transfer box output seal and as long as you have a willing dealer then the process is pretty painless and theeeeennn......???

Sorry to put you off but I can only explain whats happened to me!!
However the level of support I have recieved has been outstanding, with alot of people responding on this site, and crucially the support of the dealer (GS Coventry).
However all to no avail!!
I too bought a 3 yr old and had alot of big problems - all covered by the DEALERS - 12 month from when you bought it warrannty!!
Next year I am definately not going to be suckered, I am going to put the grand in the bank and use a local and very highly regarded independant dealer.
SWMBO said last night that I should have cancelled the instalments, but numbnuts here paid in full!!! DOH DOH DOH!!!
Still cant write to the as I havent calmed down yet.
More info when I have some progress!!! All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.

Well Good Luck bigdave, I hope they see sense. Oh and Malc, yes I recall your experiences, I don't think I'll abort the application,(for this year), as I want cover for such events, I just hope I'm near a good dealership should anything happen, I'll not be paying up front for it though.

Hi Bigdave,
Don't beat yourself up over paying in full. From other members on this site, the premium must be paid in full whether you do it upfront or in installments.
Best Wishes,
