Our MY10 D4 battery died on us in France two years ago - the local garage fitted a new battery and it has not been a problem since - so presumably it is easy enough to see what sort of battery should be fitted. As a by the way we were in the middle of nowhere and the garage was a husband and wife affair BUT he did have a diagnostic thing that he plugged into the D4.

I had an MY12, no stop start but had an AGM battery fitted when I bought it at three months old.

Okay, I have a 2010 D4 and the battery is probably going to need changed before winter. I believe it's a type 019 battery that fits. But I have a couple of questions: What's AGM? And what's the difference between a battery for stop/start and one that's not? I don't have stop/start, but if the stop/start batteries are better, that might be a consideration. Oh, and if I take the battery off, do I need to put a code into the stereo to get it to work again? Thanks.

Not 100% sure about the benefits of an AGM battery, but they’re used for stop/start cars. They can be used on non stop/start, but I’m not sure the advantages are worth the cost?
In my research a couple months ago I found that Halfords had the best options, I got a Yuasa 100Ah/900A silver for about £70

Last month I Fitted my D4 with an EK950 Exide 017 Battery AGM with 95AH capacity and 850 Amps cold cranking. The OE battery in my D4 was an Exide AGM so fitted something with very similar specs.
From memory Landrover started putting AGM batteries in from around MY2011 when they found the D4 non AGM batteries were failing prematurely.
I always used tayna.co.uk but other suppliers are available. They have an ebay store so look out for ebay 10% or 20% off deals - battery cost me £109 incl VAT and delivery.
