it was a japanese battery they have hsd a goog right up in some of the trade magazines
Yasausa, something like that not to sure of the correct spelling
it's Yuasa, so when the Japs were starting to export to the rest of the world they could claim it was made in the USA. Know your limitations, come closer to perfection.

Hi all,
I had 'fun' with my battery yesterday and ended up stranded for an hour or so
Due to my work, I was parked with the boot open for best part of a day, and didn't realise that causes at least 5 interior lights to be on, add that to the ignition being at position 1 (mob on charge) and at teh end of teh day when it was time to head home, FLAT battery
But the indications in teh car are really wierd, loads of fault indicators - "Auto Transmission failure" followed by all the door locks chattering, loads of boings and bings etc followed by "drivers door open" - "tailgate open" (both were very closed )
To add to the fun - Auto, so caould bump start, assuming you can push start almost 3 tons of vehicle, and no jump leads
Arrival of a very friendly chap with some jump leads and all was well (well it started) and after a lot more faults it seemed to settle down
So . . before you all tell me that I'm a complete tw t . . . I have already bought some jump leads.
But the car is only 3 years old, so is the battery F d, or is it 'normal' for it to go completely flat after about 5 hours with the interior lights on
Thoughts (polite ones) appreciated Never get mad - get even !!

There are several people on here who have suffered with a flat battery from leaving the tailgate open for various amounts of time - me included. I always remember now to disable the interior lights when i know the doors or tailgate will be open for a while like when I'm camping or the kids are playing in it. There is a few threads on here about it. Badda bing.......How you doin'?

Without the key in the interior lights will turn themselves off after 20mins or so to save power but by keeping the ignition turned on pos1 most (if not all) of the vehicles systems are awake and drawing power. If you're going to be doing it regularly it'd be worth getting an auxiliary battery installed with a few permanent live sockets fed from it so you're not draining the main battery The End

Disco_Steve, i think you biggest problem was that you left the key in the ignition as it keeps most of the ECU's alive and they draw a fair bit of power even at postion 1, this would be enough to drain even a good battery in around 4-5 hours without the interior lights which i believe go out after aperiod of time but do come back on if a door is opened. If you disable the interior lights by holding in the centre one of the 3 front light switches that can save a fair bit of power, if you just need to charge your phone you could always make the sockets permanently live by bridging the relay, makes things a lot easier.
