Battery charger connection point

I bought a trickle charger and the terminal connector wire with quick connector - but the hole of the terminal connector isn’t big enough for the nut on the battery connector. Are there any simple ways to add a smaller stud to the battery connector block or something like that?

I did think about that but seemed such a shame to remove the proper connector!
