battery colour codes
On the battery in the D3 has a small diagnostic window.
It should be green.
Howver it can turn black or yellow. Mine is black. On the battery is marked that in case of black colour i should consult some book, which I suppose is the D3's manual. Unfortunately I can not find what the black colour means. Is my battery finished?
Problems started after doing a half-yearly clean up of the interior with the contact, interior lights etc on all day.
I reloaded the battery overnight and it is still black.
Will I be able to start tomorrow?
Thanks in advance for advice! Some people get by

Captain ,
Black is saying its discharged and needs recharging .
This window is only measuring the one cell and can never be trusted , more of a gimick I reckon.
Get a battery test done for piece of mind

Battery is either discharged or low on electrolyte.
One thing you could try is take go out for a fairly long journey - at least 50 miles at motorway speeds and see if there is any improvement in the indication as not all domestic chargers are up to giving the D3's battery what it needs to get it fully charged.
Since you've given it a reasonable charge it sounds more possibly that the cell being monitored is low on electrolyte - get the battery properly tested as these "magic" indicators can be very inaccurate, and in my experience pessimistic (rarely optimistic).Rob Smith

If the battery has top-up plugs, then check the level of electrolyte in each cell your self. My Volvo had "maintenance free" batteries, yet also had the top-up access plugs, and I found I had to top it up every 6 months or so in order for it to fully charge.
If it has no access plugs then you may be heading in the direction of needing a replacement battery as it really is maintenance free.Dr. Ian Malcolm:
