Battery drain.
Hi all, hope you can give some suggestions please. I have a 2015 D4, battery drain, considering I put a new battery in a year ago seems excessive, example is I got low battery Albert a couple of days ago, I charged with CTEK. Today I was cleaning it, so doors were open, interior lights on (obv they time out after a bit), get back in, low battery alert again. To the point where wing mirrors not folding when locking.
Am loathed to just charge it again as I think it’s possibly something else. I read somewhere about earth lead issues, only reason for post is I have a habit of finding the first post that could possibly fit, then I jump down a rabbit hole, sometimes missing the obvious.
Could anyone give guidance on the best approach, ie, if you were me?
Thanks

Leaving the doors open with radio on will flatten the battery in minutes! Disco’s eat batteries with the engine off this is why the TV is a joke.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks. I read that too so maybe self inflicted. I’ve order LED internal bulbs. Also read that you can press and hold internal centre light button to turn them off
Maybe I’ll order car maintenance for dummies too lol.
Meanwhile the battery maybe flat but it still looks shiny so I’ll keep it 😂

Just been sorting a battery going flat ( my fault, I used the wrong fuse). As I am working on my own I got a 600A DC Clamp sensor to plug into my multimeter. I had already managed to blow the 10A fuse in it by opening the door.
It's not that dependable when it gets down to the mA level (needs to be an in circuit DMM for that) but registered 2-300mA with the car mostly at sleep but as soon as the door is opened it jumps to 13-15A hence the fuse blowing.
Pressing the start button with no foot on the brake it then jumps to 30A. This is for the primary battery only, I should also check the load on the aux battery as well at the same stages.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

It's not primarily the lights that cause the issue, it's only adds up around 25W from those, about 2A draw. You could have that on for 10 hours without issue on a a healthy battery. The problem are all ECU's that wake up and draw power when doors are opened and closed.Defender 110 SE 2021, Tasman Blue

It’s one of the reasons why I was looking into replacing the small Auxiliary battery with something full sized but where to shoehorn one in is just one of the many problems to overcome. Not much point in having both an aux and a second battery.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.
