Bean to Cup Coffee Machine recommendations

I am looking at changing our old Expresso Machine and was thinking about getting a bean to cup job We get through a considerable quantity of coffee in a week, I think the pods would be an expensive option for us long term.

Has anyone got any recommendations/ advice? - was looking at the DeLonghi ones but there's a bewildering choice.

I'm after something that can knock out expresso, cappuccino and flat white coffee that's reliable and produces a decent cup. I'm looking to spend up to 500-600 but wouldn't mind increasing that if it was worthwhile to increase my budget a bit.

Has anybody got any recommendations?

“We” went from beans to cup to a capsule system by Nespresso. More choice, users seem happy. There are 8-10 different capsules, I think.

The tea drinkers are unhappy since all they get is hot water and some Lipton tea bags Laughing

Plus they do a machine for £1 if you do the subscription thing. If you’re going to spend on capsules anyway it’s a no brainier. Thumbs Up

Nespresso pods are 30 odd pence each and you get 10 in a pack.
I buy in bulk and spend about £200 every 4 months or so , but that serves me and my wife with at least 2 coffees each a day, and I have two pods in each, and also my mother in law who orders hers through me and pays me back, so my order is usually about half of the £200.

I used to be a real coffee snob and had a proper espresso machine and grinder set up. I’d spend hours dialing in the grind, practicing tamping, trying different beans etc to get the perfect espresso pour, then I’d spend hours practice milk frothing.
If people came over and wanted coffee, it would take me 20 minutes to make it right.

Then my wife bought me a nespresso Rolling with laughter

Now I have coffee far better than I ever made it in 30 seconds.

Each to their own, I’ve never had a decent coffee from a pod.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

MY only concern with the pods is that between me and the wife we probably have in excess of 20 cups a day. I will easily have a dozen if I'm about the house.

For me, the range of Krups coffee machines with its own deposit of whole grain and coffee grinder, always fresh and freshly ground ... much better than the mysterious capsules!

Nespresso are great and we love ours but i do have a bit of a conscience about using 'pods' and the enviromental impact Confused Crying or Very sad
In fairness Nespresso will send you a recycling bag that you can fill and return but how many people actually do that i would question...generally recycling centers end up binning them as they are contaminated with used grind so dont end up being recycled Evil or Very Mad
There are coffee pod suppliers that do offer eco pods that can be composted but as always when it comes to trying to do something good they inevitably do work out alot more expensive.
On the other hand Nespresso have Excellent customer service and it does make a great coffee...

If you can pick one up second hand the Gaggia Unica is a great machine..no longer made but parts are available and my brother in law has had his years and uses it many times every day without issue..i would say its more of a 'commercial' type home machine...
