The Fullerton will not only pass the BDC, but the seat is heated!! Quite the experience.....
I know what you mean about so much to see. SWMBO and I have just started doing a bit of travelling, although both the last trips have been to the UK, and particularly Scotland, due to family connections. The next one is taking our niece, mostly again London and a little Scotland.
So much to see, so little annual leave!! We are very jealous of you in the UK being able to just pop across to the continent for a holiday! Takes us 24 hours of travel!King of the typo.

Now departed: '85 RR Vogue, '94 D1, '95 D1, '70 SIIA, '97 D1, '04 D2a. All V8, except for the SIIA - but that drank as much petrol anyway!

Checked - I was at Furama CC.
Never stayed in a MO - travel policy didn’t allow when I traveled a lot. Nowadays I do not travel very much by choice, really.

@KiwiD4: Europe is it even featuring on the itinerary. Been there, scoffed those bad boy croissants. First jolly is looking at Singapore, Sabah/Sarawak, mainland Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, back to Thailand, Laos, Cambodla & Vietnam. That’s a good start.

That will be a great trip. They are spectacular countries. King of the typo.

Thing I’m looking most to is sunrise over the pagodas at Bagan watching the hot air balloons take off
And no way am I going up in one with any one of 3000 pointy pagodas to land on!!

Furama is quite okay and so is Novotel Clarke Quay.
There are 2 Furama hotels, the City Centre is a better location, the Riverfront is fine, just 5-10 minutes walk from Clarke Quay and further from Chinatown.
We have stayed at the Mandarin Oriental on Orchard Rd a couple of times and it's great for shopping, but not much else and I wasn't convinced it was worth the money.
The hotel on Orchard Road is the Meritus Mandarin Orchard not the Oriental. When we were checking in at the Oriental last time, a guy was ranting at the reception staff about his booking not showing up until he produced his booking which showed he was expected at the Mandarin Orchard...witness collapse of stout party, particularly when he realised he’d dumped his hire car.

Ah......Singapore, I remember Singapore......
I was lucky enough to work there for a while.
Of all the places around the world I've worked, or visited for work, it's one of the few places I'd go and live.

We stayed at the Mandarin Orchard Rd which was really nice - we got a deal where an exec room (on the upper floors) was only a few quid more than a standard room and was like a small suite (with a proper separate bathroom), but you also got access to the sky lounge for breakfast (which only seats about 40 people) and free afternoon tea and cakes and an amazing all round view of Singapore. Handy for the Orchard road shops and MRT.

We gave thought to moving to Singapore many years ago but as my mother-in-law had an aversion to flying (she could barely tolerate going up aircraft steps, never mind flying any distance), we figured contact with family (HWMBO is an only child) was too important to jeopardise. Singapore has changed greatly n the intervening years but we still love it there.

Signed up for the loyalty scheme for Mandarin Orchard Rd, that knocks 15% off the costs. Might be able to keep the costs down to £140 - £170/night (incl taxes) which would be a bonus. Just seen the carrier we’ll be using (Norwegian) gets in at 06:15 so can hopefully get a hotel where we can check in early or at least dump our bags before heading off for coffee/breakfast/dim sum and a park bench to sleep on.

A few years back I was in Singapore, renowned for its regulations and enforcement thereof, taking a dump in a public toilet in a shopping mall. Screwed to the inside of the door was a sign threatening a 100 dollar fine for not flushing it after use.
How the f*** would they know?, I wondered. Was I being watched by some poor on CCTV ensuring I complied? Did some poor sod have to nip into the danger zone immediately after I’d left and check the pan?
Great place nonetheless.Arthur.
Comedy was a horse, Harvey a dog, both sadly gone. Thought I was choosing a password!

Say hello to Muddy Murphys at the end or Orchard road - assuming it's still there.
Oh, and go easy on the exceptionally tasty Guiness, almost Dublin standard if it's still brewed in Malaysia and driven across the causeway every day. Beware, it's @6.5% not 4.5%.
Can I suggest a round of what became a favourite game.
You may get asked by a girl at a bar to 'buy her a drink'.
Your standard answer should be "Sorry you may not even be a girl"
They will not take offence, but will grab your hand and place it somewhere where you will certainly know if she's a girl!
Oh the fun we had with a league table of how many times a week we could do that.
I should of course point out that you'd be mad to consider taking the situation any further if you value your health.
EDIT – And of course your moral obligations to…. Etc….. etc………

Not sure SWMBO would understand the participation in that game, well not after the verbal part!
