Best place / price to by the GAP IID tool?
After lots and lots of reading on the few evenings off I get I'm thinking this is the way to go.
Got a few buddies with D3's / D4's so would like the one that's not locked to just my vehicle.
Pro's con's from users is greatly welcomed - New to this forum.
Thanks in advance folks!

For one that’s not locked to vehicle you need a IID Pro, or, you could buy the Bluetooth version and add some extra VIN’s for a small amount of money for each one. I’m not sure how many additional VIN numbers you can add. How many extra cars do you want to include?

Thanks for your reply!
I'd like the unlocked version so I can just plug and play to various vehicles as I go along with no added costs.

However there may be a charge to update the firmware after 1 year.
Quote:
For the IIDTool Pro, updates are free for a period of one year after the date of purchase. Afterwards, firmware updates will be available for an annual fee of 500 GBP. The IIDTool Pro firmware will be continually improved through the addition of new service routines, vehicle enhancement options (modified ECU firmware’s etc), convenience features, new vehicle coverage and many more items. The annual fee will be adjusted once the product has matured and updates become less frequent. This annual fee is not mandatory; if you decide not to partake in this offer the tool will continue to function normally even without the latest firmware additions.

£1850 for a pro (unlocked)
Way cheaper for each of your mates to get a vin license (£60)
Unless you have 24+ mates with discos

NJSS - Just seems the best option for plugging in family, friends etc...
I'm the kind of person that stops to help other LR's so could come in handy there!

That is a big difference - Is it possible to buy this and then upgrade it to the PRO at a later date? Hmmmm could be worth doing that way round.2005 DISCO 3 TDV6 SE

Standard IID BT will read codes and see live values on most LR's, it's only VIN locked for editing CCF files and flashing software so you can still help many people out for about £400.
My IID is locked to my D4 but as I can still read & clear faults, see live values and reset service counter on my D3.
Superb tool.Stu

Think that's the way to go then - I wonder if they can be unlocked / upgraded to the pro tool at a later date, obviously a cost will incur if this is doable?2005 DISCO 3 TDV6 SE

You can’t unlock them to be a pro tool, but you can always trade it in for a pro at a later date
