Thanks snailcove, I think I have tracked to a couple of big end bearings. But going to replace them all, it is not a major knock at the moment. So fingers crossed caught it early.

Clicking sound and Low Oil Pressure

I Am Writing for a Freind who bought a D3 with an Oil Problem.
He build apart the engine and found a missing part on the last Big end Bearing.

Can there be something missing here?

Nothing missing.
It is like that. I was also confused when i rebuilt my engine but after lots of research and when my new bearings arrived, there were only 3 pieces for the thrust bearings like in your picture.

Same tightening torque values for both engines 2.7 and 3.0

You can check in the PSA Lion V6 Diesel Tightening torques sheets https://1drv.ms/b/s!AnHBx4Wc2MJLgqVirKyJYuGTvqWFgw

PAY ATTENTION, ON THIS PSA MANUAL TIGHTENING TORQUES ARE EXPRESSED IN daNm!!!

So you must multiply the values read by 10

Thread resurrection. I can't find the end play/float value mentioned anywhere. Mine is currently body off and the mechanics commented the end play is significant - you can pull the crank back and forward enough to make it knock noticeably. Tossing up a complete strip and refresh of bearings etc or leaving it and driving until it dies..... It's one of those conundrums - throwing good money after bad...

Crankshaft end play is listed in the LR workshop manual as 0.21 to 0.43mm.

Yours sounds a lot more than than. Dover’s Automotive have/had a 3.0l in with a stuffed crank (Spun bearing) with shot thrust bearings.

I looked at the manual and couldn’t see it for the life of me. Thanks. Well yes, funny you say that. Mine is in at Dover’s now and they’ve called the issue out when I took it in for body off to fix a list of oil leaks.
I’d agree. They haven’t formally measured it (I’ll ask them to do it tomorrow) but yeah, it must be at least double or triple that. I’m getting an estimate for a freshen up of the engine. Wonder how long it would continue to go as is?

If the thrusts are worn, the mains and big ends will be as well, add in the std low oil pressure and you are asking for trouble if left alone.

haha. That's me!

0.7mm end float measured so nearly double the 0.2-0.4mm spec.

FML.
