Bird Droppings and Scratches
Hi
I wasn't quick enough to remove some birdsh!t from my bonnet and now there is a slight discoloration where the sh!t was. Is there any way of polishing this out without abrasive sanding? I'm hoping to find a product like T-Cut or similar which can be applied with a cloth and then wiped off.
Also, I have a few very minor surface scratches on the paintwork - what's the best product to restore her to her former glory?
She's Nara Bronze, by the way.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
2012 - FL2 2009 GS Stornoway Grey
2001 - VW Passat Estate Inky Blue
1999 - Ford Mondeo Light Blue
1998 - Rover 25 Red
give these a call, i've used them loads and they are always helpful

Java Black
Clock in Dash
3 Flash Indicators
V8 brake upgrade
Don't use T-Cut
You haven't said what colour & presume you paint has clear coat
Get some Meguiars Ultimate Compound....this will polish out blemishes in the paint system without he aggression of T-Cut
Go gently & follow the instructions to the letter....use old terry towelling
A little bit at a time.....be gentle & repeat the process until you get the mark out
This does not lift the colour or remove the clear coat....it doesn't
You could use your existing polish after this but either
Meguiars Ultimate Sealant
Meguairs Step 3 Carnuba wax
Will get the area back to that of the existing area
I had a big dollop of sea gull him my Disco & got the same ..... the mark polished outBREXIT - done properly.

Halfords rubbing compound is very good and probably cheaper than the branded stuff. Use as above

Problem with bird droppings it contains ammonia which is a type of bleach and removes the colour, it is not a stain and IMO cannot be rubbed out, only solution is to remove it ASAP, one good reason for not buying a vehicle that has spent time beside the sea.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Strangely enough I live just over a stones throw from the sea and don't really suffer seagull s Just remember:-

As a make of products I am very impressed with...
I used thier plastic polish when building computer peripherals in the late 70's
I first saw thier car producers in 1999 in New Zealand....well before it came to be sold here in the UK
Other makes such as AutoGlym simply not sold there.....there was another US brand Mothers which I didn't really try.
Money was at a premium....we had to go really carefull as we were still paying bills in Northern Ireland.
Meguairs was the best price.
I had a black SAAB 900 that although a clean car had mega swirl marks...
The 1-2-3 system used as per instructions solved that problem....
When I came back to the UK I brought some back with me & my daughter shipped some in for me....bought at the "Warehouse" the budget store in every NZ town.
I have tried all thier stuff over the years:
Gold Class.....more costly luxury stuff.....didn't find any better
NexGen.....weird.....didn't work for me
The more recent range "ultimate" is really the business...
Tending for the Jag (which I an anal about swirls & marks) has proven to be the care car product of choice....compound to remove things sealant to keep the finish.
My Jag paintwork is dark metallic red...."Caviar" is the name & although a stunning colour...is worse than black for swirl marks...& shows every fingerprint....but when clean is a stunning car.
I have wasted cash on lots but the Mehauirs had always been value for money (except the NexGen)
I'd try the Ulimate compound for the bird pooh Mark
It will then remove all the swirl marks you may have.....BREXIT - done properly.

You are lucky or unlucky depending on superstition, on our last visit to Brixham a seagull scored a bulls eye on Mrs O's lunch while dinning at an outside restaurant
Bird droppings left on paintwork for over one week will strip it down to bare metal, what appears to be a mark left is usually damage to the lacquer and may be repairable, but once the paint is bleached nothing short of a respray will rectify the damage, best to remove it ASAP.It can when others can't,

Got some G3 Paint Restorer and G3 scratch remover at Halfords - it isn't perfect, but it is a lot better.
Have a friend who does car detailing and paint correction - I'll get him to take a look and give me an idea of what a proper job would be.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
