Bizzare power situation.

We had a power cut at 9 this morning, nothing that unusual as all the power lines run through the forest.
It came back about 1pm, then went again, then came back. However loads of our things don’t work, the oven, computers, TVs, weather station, coffee maker, fridges etc. Some of the lights work, others are really dim. One of the fridges isn’t on, but it’s light is on really dimly. One of the wether station monitors is just cycling on and off.
I’ve turned everything off now and the electric company are on thier way apparently, but slightly concerned half of our electric devices now are blown up.

The oil boiler is also not working, so we have no hot water, the toilet doesn’t work as it’s a pump one.. the hob is electric, as is the one seemingly broken oven. Can’t even grind any coffee beans as I’ve lost my hand grinder. Shocked worst of all my iPad is running out of battery and I’ve run out of topics to talk to the wife about.
Thank god for the wood burner to keep us warm at least.

A phase to phase fault could have raised the potential to 415V, so equipment could be fried. Power companies have contingency plans for such scenarios, so should sort you out.

Let’s hope so.. potentially a seeveral grands worth of equipment is fried. Everything is plugged into surge protectors but they seem to have been as much use as a chocolate teapot.

We had this a few years ago. Power company sent around a company in 24hours to sort everything out. Excellent painless service. We were very impressed with how they dealt with things. Thumbs Up

Well, I heard a ping, as the fridge came back on. Checked everything else and it is all working fine now. Very odd. They insisted there wasn’t a fault their end. The neighbours outside lights have just come back too, so the whole area must have been down.
Happy days.. cooking as much food as we can quickly incase it goes again Rolling with laughter

In that case it was an under voltage event, so no damage to your equipment. Thumbs Up
