How to blank off rear air con using pipe JUE00505.
In light of today's spannering I thought I would knock a little heads up together for the people that require it.
After some in depth forum searching I noticed that there wasn't really any detailed guides on how to bypass your rear air con with replacement pipe JUE000505....so here's a few pics to help.
Firstly remove your battery and unbolt the far side of your battery tray, the bolts on the bottom surface.
Remember to remove the cable connector on the far side of the tray before removing the surrounding edge. Simply twist it a half turn and it should pop out of its mounting.
Finally don't forget to remove this little bolt that is a bracket for the air con pipes running along the rear of the battery box.
I would now recommend getting your new pipe and have it in front of you to visualise where it's going to and from. The end with the metal silver bracket goes against the bulkhead in a really awkward position. In the centre of that bulkhead bracket is an 8mm bolt. I used approx 1foot of extension bars on my ratchet so that I could get to it and whip it off. Once that bolts out you need to try and squeeze your hand through the cabling and pull the situated pipes out of their sockets.
Now back to the rear of the battery box, you will see two connections again with 8mm bolts. Undo these and just on the side of the suspension turret is another 8mm supporting bracket remove this. The pipe is now free (kind of). I now took out my trusty hacksaw and chopped off the pipe work to the rear. And tried to bend it in a way that it wouldn't interfere with anything else.
For refitting just do it all back in reverse and jobs a fish.
Apologies if the pics are a little lame but hopefully it'll give someone the right kind of idea of what they're tackling.Ted

I would suggest removing the wiring looms for the TCCM and PCM, and swinging them out the way, as per in the cam belt thread. Gives you that little extra room to work, which makes all the difference My D3 Build Thread

Thanks fella - this in on my todo list - pipes to the rear aircon are rotten and are going to cost a fortune to replace.

Just about to attempt this job and wondered if I should lube the O-rings with something (if so, what) or just leave them dry?2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

They break. Regularly, causing a leak to the system.

Yep, they were the source of my leak. Got them replaced while the body was off - very expensive pipes, but I didn't want to lose it. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Okay, just finished the job and thought I'd add a few observations.
Firstly, big thanks to Focus340 for the guide and DM for the extra tip.
Took me 3hrs from start to finish including various bouts of swearing, trips into the garage to rummage in the tool chest for a bigger widget and a cup or two of tea.
I was reluctant to remove the looms as DM suggested as it looks pretty daunting, but in the end I decided I had no choice. I couldn't remove one of the aircon pipe brackets and thought moving the looms would give me a little extra space to get at it. Turns out it didn't but by then I'd done it.
The bracket I struggled with was the one towards the rear of the battery box which holds the pipe being removed / fitted firmly in place. There's very little room to get anything on the nut and you certainly can't see it. Turns out it was a 10mm, not an 8mm nut on my car. So I spent a long time trying to get an 8mm spanner to turn it. Then, even with a 10mm I couldn't get on it. So I cut the old pipe back to the bracket and then used a big pair of tin snips to cut through the sheet metal bracket (there's a new one on the new pipe). This allowed me to get it all out of the way and get a spanner on the nut.
In terms of removing the looms, this took a lot longer than I expected because I had to figure out the different locking mechanisms each connector type used. If I had to do it again I could do it very quickly but as it was, each of them presented themselves as a little puzzle that needed figuring out.
I cut through the old pipes with a hacksaw on the vertical where they appear under the scuttle. I then used a bit of the old foam round the smaller one as it was resting up against the new pipe.
So all in all, a bit more of a faff than I'd expected but doable with a bit of perseverance. I just hope it fixes the problem!2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
