Since I'm on a bit of a roll I thought I would ask another question.
I've had this car for 4 years and there has always been the 'pre-heat' and 'pre-cool' options in the settings menu, but these have never interested me...
Yesterday I was more bored than usual so had a play and used the search on this forum to find out how it works (nothing in the manuals). The ancient threads seemed to start and end in 2005(! ) with no real resolution as to whether it should work or even be there! Was there any closure on this issue? Is it supposed to work? pre-cool definitely does but a bit too warm to check pre-heat.
Not really a 'hot topic' but anybody know...
Thanks for any info. TDV6 HSE AUTO

You haven't had any software updates then....
It was removed in the software updates, but there are alternatives by using the Webasto timer either just as a timer, or connecting a remote button or by connecting a GSM phone activated box.
It now comes on the D4 as an option Bodsys Brake Bible
D4/D3 Remote FBH heat kits
BAS Remaps/ EGR Blank
Transmission Flush
Software updates/enabling
Clock/ SNOTM /3Flash / 4x4Info /BT Update /Service Reset/Error Codes / Gearbox Reset

Thanks Bodsy. It's been maintained here since new by Landrover Grenoble and now by Landrover Chambery. Just had 4th annual service yesterday. They would surely (?) have done any software updates in that time... Perhaps it wasn't removed in the LHD version update or something...
Appreciate any more thoughts please... TDV6 HSE AUTO

You should check if your car went through enhancement program. This removed the settings, and addressed a lot of other issues too.
Here is a link to the original thread on here > http://www.disco4.com/forum/topic4840.html
It has expired now, so you will probably have to pay for it. If you have owned the car from new, you may want to ask why your dealer never did it.

Good link Gareth, thanks a lot . Not sure what parts of the enhancement program were applicable to export vehicles but my VIN is in the middle of the range. Probably too late to ask the dealer now as they have stopped doing LR due to abysmal sales... mind you - I will call tomorrow just in case.
I did buy it new and at each service they talked about software changes but I didnt know it was possible to verify it - heyho, live and learn... TDV6 HSE AUTO

ets hope they actually done them, as the ew compressor i'm going to send you needs that to have ben done before it will work properly TLO has left the building.......

Hi Nick
Thanks for that. Is it possible that the software is/was modular which would allow them to leave the pre heat functionality alone whilst updating other parts of the system (after all it would be nice to have here in the alps if that was possible). Obviously a few phone calls are in order tomorrow which will hopefully resolve the issue (before the compressor fails...).
Out of interest we did the service yesterday - do you think the dealer would be able to tell us from the diagnostics what the software state is or will they need the car back to do that?
Thanks for any more ideas...
PS I cant believe the dealer would log it as done if they hadnt really... If thats the case then I better buy a Renault... or a Pug TDV6 HSE AUTO

Time to put this to bed and send it back to 2005....
Spoken to both dealers and Landrover France (well the wife did cos shes french and a lawyer and stuff...).
All updates have been carried out iaw LR France req's. Diagnostics confirmed this on Monday. No problem for new compressor - dealer got most upset in a very French way when it was implied that things might not quite have been done properly . Offered to show all software and update info when we take the new compressor in - an offer we will be accepting .
Thanks for info and links - what a great forum, essential stuff. TDV6 HSE AUTO
