Bloody Alarm

Has anyone else experienced the phantom alarm? The car alarm will randomly go off. When I unlock the car it won’t let me reset it due to the bonnet apparently being open. If I open the bonnet and close it I am able to reset the alarm. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that the bonnet sensor is faulty. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have any recommendations on where I should take it to get it fixed.

Thanking you kindly.

I think it’s common. Buy a new switch and fit it yourself. Easy job.

You remind me of a younger me, not much younger mind...perhaps even a little older!

In the meantime bypass it with a paper clip Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Just had a quick google, £25 does that sound about right?

When I stick my head under the bonnet is it fairly straightforward to do?

Every time I read these threads I think I really should replace the temporary wire jumper I put in mine on an annoyed campsite in Shropshire about 2 years ago, with a new switch Laughing

The bonnet catch containing the switch has a spring between the micro switch and the mechanical locking actuator. Remove the bonnet catch and stretch the spring a bit to apply more pressure to the micro switch when the bonnet is closed (doesn’t need much). Since your alarm stops going off for a while after you reclose the bonnet suggests that the issue is with this spring and not the micro switch itself so you shouldn’t need a new catch.
