Bluetooth/Phone Kit Options Again!!

I have an 05 SE with the phone buttons on the right hand side of the steering wheel but when these are pressed it reads on the radio display PHONE NOT FITTED. Is it possible that I have a vehicle that has the steering wheel buttons but no bluetooth/phone kit fitted - how can I tell. If this is the case what are my options - I would prefer if I could utilise these buttons on the steering wheel with an aftermarket kit - any ideas?

Thanks

JIM

"PHONE NOT FITTED" is normal ..that only works with the factory PTI kit .

Have you tryed searching for a bluetooth signal with your phone ..it will proberly say "ford audio " if the modules are in the car

Hi Wiggs

No bluetooth devices found is all I can get from both the blackberry and the nokia. It looks like bluetooth is not fitted - how do I know this for sure - also, is there any chance that the bluetooth may be switched off.

Thanks

Looked behind the moulding in the passenger footwell, couldn't find a module just this connector. Is this the connector for the bluetooth module or is it behind the drivers side moulding?

Probably removed by a previous owner. The early units gave all sorts of troubles, one being an annoying 'Listening' message when sometimes starting the car that continued until you pull the voice activation switch to cancel it. A much updated unit is available - mine should arrive this week Smile

Puffsorted

Thanks

You can confirm that is the connector for the bluetooth module - I have been made aware that there are two modules - one for the phone kit and one for bluetooth.

There is 2 modules ...they look like this

One on the right is the bluetooth .I seem to remember the bluetooth one being on the drivers side ..but cant remember 100%

There is also another lead ..maybee the one you found .This is for a telephone base plate (phone holder ) it can be used to power the phone when in a phone cradle .

The Nokia PTI / Bluetooth factory telephone module should be found behind the RH quarter trim panel in the trunk/boot.

Gotcha. I gather that this car is not fitted with the factory PTI kit then, no dock for a phone cradle under the armrest lid? "PHONE NOT FITTED" (or is it "NO PHONE FITTED"? Very Happy ) appears on the LCD of my radio as well, whenever my BT phone is not connected to the factory PTI for whatever reason, if I pull one of those steering wheel paddle thingies.
