Doubt it makes any difference.
My Touch Diamond (  phone so got rid sharpish) worked fine with my MY08 PTI.

Makes no difference where the contact is stored (phone or SIM). Mine works fine with my Nokia 6500C and my HTC TYTNII.....and my old Nokia 6230, and the kids Samsung J700.
I apologise for using the word "download", as Mr.  correctly points out, "read" would be a better description of the interaction.
Far more phones actually work than are on the approved list............

The point is though if any phone has the contacts via BT it has had the upgrade done as Winger said. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
