Body-off refurb recommendations

Happy New Year All

Recently, I had my D3 in the garage for 3 months ..... don't ask Thud and when they had the body off, it was very clear to see that the chassis and underside of the body is in desperate need of a bit of tlc Shocked

Plus, I have a few rattles and ever-so-slight knocks that garage can't/won't get to the bottom of Rolling Eyes

What I'm looking for is a sound garage that could take in the car for a while and strip down the chassis and refurb, then also attend to a thorough check of all the moving parts and fix up what needs to be done. I intend keeping this car on the road for a while yet Thumbs Up

I can't find any independent garages in Ireland that look like they could take it on.Wiilling to travel to the UK - between M4 and Manchester region - and leave it in someones capable & trusted hands.

Any recommendations?

Thanks for the suggestions Thumbs Up

Those loveable Indy obsessives are hard to find in Ireland, so UK most likely spot.

It’s a project for this year so will take your suggestions anytime. Thanks

I imagine the costs would be eye watering though.

I am afraid that finding a unicorn might be easyer…

Since no profitable workshop will have a lift spare “for a while” to refurb a chassis completely….

Incl your “knocks” repair i think it will be at least 60 hour job and if so 80 hours lift time, but maybe more

Are you serious spending that money in hours + spare parts ?

Definition; refurbishment is open to debate of course, but for me that includes proper cleaning, maybe blasting/welding, proper durable coating etc. So a lot of dismounting, prepairing, mounting, etc.
 Best regards
Harold

We've done a few. It's not for the faint hearted though

My own D3 was over £3k in rust prevention products alone, before labour costs, or any new parts...

Tanners,

Mike hasn’t shown you the galvanised chassis. Must have cost a pretty penny but if your going to do something then do it properly!
Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.
