Bolt down the hole. Yes I did it and now what?
Hello,
I am in the process of changing the right hand intake manifold on my Discovery 4 2011. When refitting the fuel rail I was thinking that maybe I should cover the hole on top of the EGR-valve (from removing the outlet pipe). 5 seconds after thinking I should cover the hole I dropped one of the bolts holding the fuel rail and in slow motion I could see it enter the EGR valve through the hole... Yes, I know seriously stupid and I feel like I should nerver touch a car again but I did it and I now have a 25 mm M8 bolt somewhere in the EGR valve.
I can´t see it from the top and I couldn´t get it with a magnet. I will try to find a smaller magnet and maybe I get lucky... I have tried to understand where the bolt might go and if it could cause problems but I haven´t found any good drawings showing how the valve looks within.
So my question to you is if the bolt is likely to cause problems or is it just a case of getting a new bolt and leave the old one where it is?

Thanks for your reply! I just found the bolt. It didn’t go down the hole but got stuck below the EGR-valve. What a relief!
