Bong, "Transmission Fault" then read owners manual |
|
had a bong this afternoon, as above, had come down from carlisle to cambridge more or less non stop at 60 with trailer behind, after dropping off car and handover for around 1.5 hours, headed out on the A14 around 10 miles, the above happened, no loss of power etc and did'nt come on again after pulling off and started him up after 5 mins wait.
Is this a pre-curzor to something, anyone else had this, checked the old manual, just says seek dealership advise, your expert opinion, has anyone else had this only to find their d3 lets them down later

I've had that message a few times over the last 3 years each time it was diagnosed as the battery needing charging. Dealer replaced the battery twice because it wouldn't charge. Not reoccurred since the last battery replacement over a year ago - could that have anything to do with the fact that I now have the latest battery type 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold
1999 Discovery 2 TD5 ES Rioja Red, sold
2002 Discovery 2 TD5 ES Buckingham Blue, sold
2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Adriatic Blue, sold
2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver, sold
2011 Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE Nara Bronze, sold
2016 Volvo XC60 D5 AWD Lux Nav Twilight Bronze, sold
2020 Range Rover Evoque P250 First Edition, Nolita grey, sold
2023 Range Rover Evoque P300e Autobiography, Carpathian grey

cheers for your replies, dj, my message came up wilst driving, not problems starting/driving etc, had a new LR battery under warranty around 15 months ago but will check.
perhaps will speak to TLO on tuesday as they'd re-calibrated the auto box whilst doing the flush etc, see whether they did that software upgrade mentioned in the thread

you remember I mentioned in my first post that I thought this might be a sign of devine interventions, well......
on me way up to scotland on thursday, travelled 124 miles with empty trailer on the back, got south of manchester and "bong" up came the "check yer brake pads you plonker" in the message centre, followed by the old "transmission fault" a few miles on, fortunately was able to pull in to the services less than half a mile way. Went to turn him off then "bong" up came the EPB fault with the corresponding "park brake fault"
Turned him off, had a cup of tea, came back, started up, no problems, just the "check yer brake pads plonker" light and message for the rest of the 500 + mile trip.
Whilts having me cup of tea, had a word with Doug at Yeovil, has had a few RRS coming in and a FL2 with the same problems, seems its indicative of transmission fluid over heating or a faulty sensor in this hot weather. EPB was cleaned and calibrated only a month or so ago by TH Whites, Swindon.
Booked in at TLO's place tomorrow morning, TFC mentioned it might be that the transimission may not be actually going in to gear or something (it was a few weeks ago I spoke to him, but never responded to me email to arrange repairs).
Will keep yer posted on the results as I hope this is not anything to do with the flush etc

2) Replaced front brake sensor
3) Replaced o/s stop tail light bulb
lets keep our fingers crossed then chaps, off to leeds/cobham to collect and delivery a new 612 f1 on thursday
