I took my D3 to Taunton Land Rover and the diagnosis was apparently correct. The Master Cylinder was "failing". They have had one or two other instances according to the mechanics.
They fitted a new one and all is as it should be. They didn't have the part in stock but fair play to them, they had it on overnight delivery and I was mobile again mid- afternoon New Year's Eve. The Service Manager (Chris) gave me a voucher for 25% off my next service because of the delay.
Job done!
