| Brake Discs & Steering Shake |

Front brake discs and pads were replaced 2 months ago with Landrover originals due to steering wheel shake on braking at around 50 mph. Now after about 1000 miles it has started agian when braking. This only happens when braking and not at other times. Wheel balance and tyre pressures have been checked just in case the problem was starting there, and they were fine. Any suggestions please other than the new discs are faulty.

Pad material deposits on the discs? do you hold the brakes on when you are at the lights or in traffic?
whip the discs down to a local machine shop and get the run-out checked

If your front discs/pads were changed so recently, I'd concentrate on what's going on at the rear.. Dr. Ian Malcolm:

I don't hold the car on the foot brake, I am in the habit of selecting neutral and the parking brake at red lights. There was no problem in the first 30K milles on the old discs. If it is a disc problem it may be a claim under warranty.

Rear pads and park brake shoes & drums changed last December. The shake is definitely when you touch the brake pedal and starts at 50 mph down to about 30 mph. Its not evident when braking at lower speeds.

Could it be yoiur ARB bushes and steering bushes worn, causing noticeable wobble? Bodsys Brake Bible

The fault is definately on the front if the steering wheel shakes. If brake judder is caused by the rears then you would only feel it through the brake pedal.

Its now been found the cause of the problem was the front brake discs which were only renewed along with the pads around 1000 mile ago. They have now been replaced again but this time under the Landrover parts warranty and of course without charge. Just hope this set last a bit longer!

A Mate of mine has recently had his discs replaced too. The steering judder was very bad as he was slowing down at a junction or approaching a roundabout. Almost so bad he said that it was difficult to hold onto the steering wheel 
I must find out what was wrong with the discs exactly & report back

I was told the discs were just outside the allowable tollerance, so I guess warped would be the answer, but wouldn't expect the dealer to do much checking if replacement under the warranty was all that was needed.
I'm sure its not the way I drive the automatic - am I correct - keep the right hand pedal down to the floor at all times & lift the left hand pedal to go faster!
