My 2011 D4 has started losing brake fluid somewhere. Oddly the brakes still work well on all four corners.
i have hunted high and low for a leak but without success. No leaky pipes, hoses or callipers. The reservoir doesn't appear to leak and everything is dry. Although it all looks good I have still added 200 ml of Dot4 in a week. I suspect that the master cylinder is leaking into the servo. As the master cylinder is the original and has done 161000 miles I have ordered a replacement. We have three D4s 2 x 2014 HSE Luxury and my old faithful 2011 D4 HSE. If you have a D4 you need a spare, and a spare for the spare!
My question is has anybody else had a similar fault? If I'm right and the fluid has gone into the servo will the Dot 4 do the servo a mischief? 2011 D4 HSE, it'll be nice if it ever works!
2014 D4 HSE Luxury. as if one money pit isn't enough!
My old 2005 D3. Now sold after 362000 on the original engine!

Yes, severely rusted rear lines.
Some replace with a brake line along the frame. I had them done properly. 2015 LR4 HSE Lux Aintree Green

If it is corroded rear brake lines, you would see the evidence on your driveway / road surface, usually under the rear diff area. 200 ml in a week is a fair amount to lose. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

Thanks for your kind replies. The front to back brake pipes were all replaced in April while the body was off for an unrelated repair. There are no external leaks, even tiny ones. It's why I suspect I'm losing fluid into the servo.
I am planning to carry out some routine maintenance tasks over the next couple of days and will take the master cylinder off as one of the jobs. The fluid has to be going somewhere! I do have a very good pressure bleeding kit so I'll pressure the system up before I tear it down. Hopefully the replacement master cylinder will arrive tomorrow. 2011 D4 HSE, it'll be nice if it ever works!

Just pull out the servo black plastic pipe, and use a long tywrap or welding rod to poke in the hole and see if oil is in there. Just make sure its brake fluid as some trace of engine oil could be in there from the vac pump.

As expected the master cylinder had a small leak and brake fluid had made into the servo. A little engine oil too. All cleaned out and a new master cylinder fitted. Seems ok but i'll keep an eye on it for a while! Thanks for all the suggestions! Much appreciated 2011 D4 HSE, it'll be nice if it ever works!
