I have never had a problem with an Mot and have been stopped by the police for routine checks and they have never had a problem with my bulbs.
It pays to get a good make of bulbs i have fitted cheap ebay ones that have only lasted a short time and started to flicker on another vehicle.Andrew

Many Thks and good to know , indeed also been down that route of buying cheap ebay bulbs , particularly interior ones and they cost me a new 2nd row lighting cluster as they shorted out
Also at some stage would like to fit some xenon headlights but that won’t be yet awhile

I have fitted cheapy and quality stop/tail bulbs, my conclusion is fit whatever is to hand and do not worry about it.
In fact I fit dozens of bulbs weekly at work, some good some poor, some fail as you fit them (I kid you not) all seem to have a high failure rate, the only bulbs where I can notice a difference is the orange indicator bulbs, the quality ones have a deeper amber light versus the cheap ones which are a sort of yellow/white light.
