Brake pad thickness new and minimum

According to the garage my pads are on 6mm front and back (done 11k miles). IIRC the minimum is about 3mm but I am trying to work out what miles I have left so can someone tell me the thickness of new pads and is it less on the back?

Mine new had 13mm on front giving 10mm of usable material. Your have 30% left. I had a row with local dealer saying mine were 90% worn with 6mm left. Not sure of rear thickness but I believe it is also 10mm

What you have to remember with brake pads is the less friction material that is left the hotter they run and the faster they wear, the heat also causes damages to other components, how cheap they are just replace them.
Also remember if you have had the car serviced they are trying to work out whether the pads will make the next service.
Guessing how many miles you have left is difficult as no one knows how you drive.

Thanks both. I was surprised how much pad wear there had been over 11k miles. Must do more motorway miles!

Just to give you a further idea....
Dealer picked up that my rear pads were 90% worn at 40k....DM changed them 2 weeks later,and this is what they looked like......the wear indicator light only came on a day or 2 before Mike did them.. Thumbs Up

Well I had a look at mine, well the outside pads and they look like more than 6mm. I wonder if the 6mm stated was usable rather than total?

Dont pay much attention on cars or anything small for that matter as they are hassle,but can tell you on trucks its not unusual to have the outer pads with 2 maybe 3mm more meat on them than the inner one.
Slightly sticky sliders will also cause uneven wear, sometimes massively so.
With brakes its all about experience and if unsure always play safe and replace them.

They were shown as a green on the traffic light health system that dealers use so perhaps I should just park it and keep an eye on them.

Inner pads tend to wear more as they have greater amounts of rubbish washed up from the road, even with the shields in place.
