Nigel Farage was quick to tweet his disapproval, saying: “A deal in Brussels is good news for Mrs May as we can now move on to the next stage of humiliation.”

AFAIK UK isn’t party to Catalonia, Ceuta, Melilla (Morocco would be to the last two) so dragging that card out probably doesn’t help the discussion regarding Gibraltar...?

Morocco wants Ceuta and Melilla back from a foreign country. Spain wants Gibraltar from a foreign country. See the similarity?

Anyway, the Spaniards gave Gibraltar to the UK as part of the Treaty of Utrecht (ending the War of Spanish Succession and with it French hopes of taking over Europe (until Napoleon, of course)).

Well we all know napoleon and his marshals of France got a second prize in Spain thanks to wellington with the help of the portugese and Spanish irregulars . At Barrosa outside of Cadiz the Spanish and allied C in C “ Donna Manilto” sat on his ar&e a mile from the action and did nothing whilst the Gibraltar garrison fought his battle to ensure-that the Spanish state would continue to exist. No plaque there to commemorate the action. Wonder why. Gibraltar it’s british and will remain so.
Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

And no problem because as people will have a say

Quote:
Brexit: Michael Gove says UK voters can change final deal
...
"If the British people dislike the arrangement that we have negotiated with the EU, the agreement will allow a future government to diverge."

The next general election is currently due to be held in 2022, three years after the UK leaves the EU.

However, it could be sooner if the prime minister calls one, and MPs agree to it, or if the government collapses.

That is aimed at hard Brexit types so they feel happy that they can kill the deal at the last minute and get their hard result.

What a complete clusterfuuuuck! Too many agenda's at play here, clouding the issue. Its too late now, but there should have been a cross party team handling this from the beginning.
