Bringing back the 12v in the rear of my D3

Hey folks,

Bought a second hand D3 SE but it never had a 12v set up in the back. It looks like it was replaced/removed so that a trailer towing set up could be installed, however it seems that there is no power there now when I checked. It may not be connected but there is no 12v adapter there anymore just an empty space where it was and it doesn't look like there is anywhere to plug in a new one. I have no knowledge of how this trailer set up works but just keen to get the 12v back in there and I don't have much of an idea where to start really, has anyone any experience of what is needed here or even access to a wiring diagram for that part of the vehicle?

The photo below is the current set up that I'm not actually using for anything (that I'm aware of Smile ).

Looks like it's this trailer wiring loom...

Thanks!

A 2 pin orange plug should do the power socket.
No reason for it not to be there.

The blue 15A fuses can be used as a power source.
One of them maybe ignition switched

That thick brown and thick black spare connector may also be a power source.

I'm pretty sure Wiring diagrams are all available on the wiki page of this site Thumbs Up
(Look under the orange disco 3 .co.uk heading)

Thanks for that, I couldn't find that at all after spending a lot of time looking, but I just found 2 wires trapped in behind the trim but can't find where they go. Will have to try take the trim off and see if that orange plug is in there somewhere at the end of them.

Have you checked the fuses?

Rear power and towbar should be on seperate fuse at the front fuse box behind the glovebox

Success, kind of.

I followed the wires trapped behind the trim and managed to pry the trim just enough to free this little beauty out Smile Haven't tested it yet but it looks like the orange pin may no longer there and there has been some DIY job done on it as it's been taped up.

From the factory, you need the ignition I on for it to work

Thanks, power working too. Now just need to get a casing or shroud to put it back in place. Considering a second battery to be able to run a fridge off it when the engine is off too, back to searching the forums for that one Smile
