Broken Down “Engine System Fault”
Good afternoon troops.
Wondering if anyone else has had this experience….
Driving last night and the Engine on my D3 cut out basically with the above fault on the dash.
After coasting to a standstill it appeared the engine wasn’t getting any fuel which ended up in having to be recovered.
See attached codes.
Any info greatly appreciated.
Thanks

For info…. Battery disconnected / connected and the fault was there before turning over / after system check.

P2290 is the code your interested in, assuming the EGRs are blanked
Start with a new fuel filter. If that doesnt cure it, it could be either LPFP or HPFP
EDIT: Read the post properly. Check for fuel at the bleed point in the engine bay. If no fuel, check for LPFP current draw, and /or power + earth at the LPFPMy D3 Build Thread

Thanks for the info guys.
Had a quick look at the throttle butterfly there. Seems to be ok
Yes. EGRs are blanked.
HPFP and Belt plus tensioner was changed in June this year.
I’ll get a gander at the LPFP….Is it common for them to just give up like that?
Could it be a fuse? If so what one?
Had some Transmission faults come up on the dash there but they’re gone now.
Still the same….turns over but doesn’t start.
I’ll need to do some more digging…..

Mine died in a similar fashion some years back - no pressure.
The LPFP had given up the ghost without warning - albeit the tank guard had a large dent from an off roading "incident"...
A replacement pump cured the problem.I see no ships........

You mentioned that The EGRs are blanked and when you checked the throttle butterfly and it looks ok? When you blank the egrs he butterfly valve needs to be removed as the system will still operate it,( cutting off fresh air) to allow the engine to breath the recycled air from the egrs, if they’re blanked….no air…coughing, dying engine.2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

An “incident” you say….I get the feeling there’s another story here. 🤣
So if I’m getting no fuel pressure at the engine is there good way to test the Power to the Pump? Or is it a “drop the tank and go for it” kinda situation…? 😅

Apologies …….perhaps I misunderstood… 🤦♂️
Surely if this was the case the engine would still start though eh….🤔 Or at least try to start…

So after suspecting the LPFP I dropped the tank and swapped it out….Green Clip inside the Tank was tricky…. Car still wouldn’t go.
Checked the HPFP side last night and found the Belt is shredded….. anyone ever had this? Is the Pump prone to seizing or anything like that? The Belt and Tensioner were new in the summer when the Pump was done….Gonna strip it out properly today but can see the tensioner is still on and appears ok. 🤷♂️

Further investigation has uncovered the Camshaft Pulley has an issue.
The belt guide in the inside has become detached so the Pulley will have to come off / be replaced.
Has anyone ever carried this out? I’d be interested in any info
Thanks.

Have seen that before on an aussie ford territory that uses the same 2.7 TDV6 as the D4 used.
