Broken Tow Bar Socket

I recently acquired my 07 D3. The vehicle is fitted with the Witter tow bar and I want to start towing. Upon inspection I found the tow bar socket is cracked. It appears to have had a rear end collision before I bought it. Clearly my pre-purchase inspection was not thorough enough. I removed the tow bar and the Witter insert has also been damaged with one of the top corners broken off.

Can the tow bar chassis socket be replaced, presumably if the seam weld is ground off it drops out and a new one can be fitted - or is it much more involved?

Is there a landrover part number a search for tow bar socket just brinks up electrical parts?

Anyone recommend someone near sheffield who can do this?

And how outrageous is the price likely to be?

Thanks in advance, I have already found the site very useful for fixing some of the niggles that came with the vehicle.

I believe you need a complete rear cross member.

Thanks. That makes sense. Have found the part no. KVB500101

As the bumper is currently on mine I cant see on the vehicle or find pics online of whether this is a bolt on or weld on part or how involved fitting is?

Part plus new tow bar is looking expensive.

Any suggestions appreciated.

The crossmember is welded onto the chassis, it isn’t bolt on. From what limited info I’ve managed to find out it can be changed with the body on. Some people have had this replaced as part of the towbar recall so it’s a recognised procedure rather than a cut n shut type affair.
