Bug removal
Hello all. Yesterday in the spirit of job creation I allowed some to clean my beloved disco in the carpark at work. When I got back to the vehicle I was horrified to se that it had been scratched to SH..!! The entire front of the bonnet and the grill are trashed. Today I found the sod and cr.pped on him in no uncertain terms. When I asked him to show me what he had used (on my 3month old paint) he produced a brillo pad! I was speechless. What kind of f r uses a pot scourer on a car?! He said the bugs were hard to remove
Any ideas on getting these scratches polished out?

And THAT'S why I don't let other people clean my car. The kids wanted to wash the car a few weeks ago, they were all ready with bucket and spong (that had clearly been dropped on the floor.........)

I wanted to clean the freckles off his face with the brillo pad, but he was so stupid there was no getting through to him. It was so bad I didn't know what to do. I am still in shock

Unless you take it to a professional, you are fairly limited in what you can use.
Try some Meguiars Scratch-X , it is fairly mild and probably more available than most products.
I think it is stocked by Builders & Makro (but check first), otherwise phone the agents for a local retailer.

I am going to take it to Auto Armor and get it buffed. They reckon that will work, although they haven't seen the damage yet, I only spoke to them on the phone. Any body used them for something similar?

Auto Armour, are they the paint treatment people ?
I would be carefull that they dont remove your clearcoat with some over eager buffing.
Personally I would take it to a reputable Body Shop to have the scratches removed, if they fluff it they fix it.
Before & Afterwards check on the edges for paint breakthrough (also check the lettering for buffing).

An ex girlfriend was moaning about bird poo on her car once and went to get a brillo pad. I couldn't believe my eyes! So she was stupid as well as eager, fit and attractive..... I was young and fickle and could live with character flaws like that I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Hi Andrew, I sympathise with you as I had a similar idiot on this side of the globe who did exactly the same thing .
My problem was made slightly worse as the idiot scratched the decals as well as the paint. So after dealing with the idiot and the company who employed him, I decided to by a new set of decals and re-waxed the entire front just last weekend. Must say, the old decals were a b d to remove, but once all the sticky stuff was gone (prepsol worked best), I was able to comfortably cut and wax the bonnet back to a glorious shine.
All marks dissapeared and the new decals went on like a charm. Gladly do this again if I had to, as the end result is showroom stuff. No wax buildup around the decals etc... A panel beater will do exactly same but charge a small fortune to do it..
Good luck..What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

mobyone; my lettering is also a bit scratched, but not too bad. What did you do about your paint apart from waxing it?
Baben; I am in CT. Any recommendations?
No insurance from the "washer" person! Just a looking for some extra money.
