I've spent the last couple of days in Buxton with friends, and I've been really surprised by the number of D3s I've seen about the place. It's a stark contrast from Newcastle, I'm unlikely to see one from one week to the next. I didn't spot any disco3.co.uk stickers, but friend Cath reckons there was one in Morrisons car park yesterday afternoon. I'd done one of my hallmark car abandons on the far side of the car park, diagonally across two bays. Classic.
Question for all you members from this part of the world... I have a day to myself today, and not much to do other than entertain myself in my car. Where should I go? Nice scenery and walks are also an option, I'm not just looking for off-road driving suggestions.
I like it here. I think if I get this job in Macclesfield, I might move here.

Buxton?
Watch out for the mono-browed cousins
Did you hear any banjo's playing
you could always try poole's cavern then a wander round Goyt valley
Hastily inserted follow up question... If you got a job in Macclesfield, where would you live?

Depends how much cash you've got?
Prestbury is THE place to be, but since its one of those places that claims to have more millionaires per square mile, and you have a D3 not an FFRR, then its probably out of your league.
Apart from that there's plenty of nice villages all around Macc.
Where to go? Find a friend and do some of the easier routes we did on the Peaks weekend Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

If you are coming from Newcastle, you won't be able to afford to live anywhere in that area!
There are lovely Peak villages - quite expensive but the living is wonderful. I'd personally choose those over the Cheshire plains locations of Wilmslow, Prestbury, Macc etc.Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Ahh, but I live in 'posh' Newcastle
No, you're right, there are plenty of places in Cheshire that are well out of my league!
There's a lot to be said for moving to a place where you know people, which is why I still quite like the Buxton idea. And I'm sure I could get my eyebrows to meet so that I'll fit in properly. People have commented in the past that I look less evolved than many others in my species

I used to commute from Chester to Macclesfield. Chester's a jolly nice place to live too
Oh! But do I feel I understand any better? The answer has to be no.

I've got a house for sale in Bramhall, not quite Prestbury.
I used to live in Hayfield, not too far from Buxton, very nice little peak district village. Buxton is a nice town (the highest town in England), but it is pretty isolated from major citys, especially in the winter.
