To buy or not to buy that is the question
As some of you may know I'm currently looking to purchase a D4. I've seen and made an enquiry on a few so just waiting for them to get back to me.
I've decided to go down the LR approved route, yes I'll pay a bit me but I'll have the 2 year warranty as back up.
So my question is this. Do I wait for the new reg to come out when there could be a glut of D4's being traded in. Or if I see one now just go for it.
Also I've seen a very nice one in Ireland, I'm in Liverpool, and spoke to the dealer today. They said getting it to me wouldn't be a problem but is there any hidden dangers/pitfalls with buying one from across the Irish Sea.
Thanks

I wouldn’t want to depend on there being a glut of D4’s after 1/3/18.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)
The longer you leave it, the fewer D4s are going to be available with the extended warranty, especially if they are holding their value until the D5's become cheap enough to ignore the design quirks. (I think the horizontal rear lights are worse than the number plate, all the D1-4s had lights on the rear pillars).1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Was just a thought about the trade ins. No doubt there will be some but maybe not a glut. But if I do wait I then run the risk of loosing out on the couple I've seen.D4 MY15 SE TECH

I bought mine via main dealer with the extended warranty, I still get emails from Autotrader with matching cars and they're almost the same as I paid. That was 8 months ago.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Hi.
I'm a lover of Ireland but would be cautious about buying an Irish car. Depending on the area it's been used in the country roads are very hard on vehicles, and they tend to be very hard drivers although that is a generalisation so no offence intended to anyone.
An Irish plated vehicle needs to be registered with DVLA to gain a UK plate, I don't think this would be too difficult but will involve plenty of paperwork.
Taxation works differently in Ireland so there was a glut of these large vehicles purchased as commercials on a low tax rate and then converted to passenger cars, or the other way around, sorry!
If I hadn't been offered mine by a friend I would've been tempted by the peace of mind offered by LR Assured.

I took Ireland to mean The Republic of, rather than Northern version.
