Buying Advice

I had a Disco 3 3years ago. Now considering getting a Disco 4. Any buying advice, model year recommendation etc etc would be gratefully received. Bow down

As new and as low mileage as you can afford.

If you’re expecting to drive into larger cities in Europe or U.K. you’ll pretty much have to get one complying with Euro 6 emissions.

I’d add that if emission compliance is not a primary concern the early D4s, being 9-10 years old this year, are starting to be priced very affordably. Get a HSE and you’re done for features. Remember to change the sunroof drains if it has a sunroof.

What age are you after?
I think 2013/14 onwards with stop/start the road tax drops quite a bit.

Probably 2014 onwards. Currently got a 2012 Defender 110 XS USW. So all depends on what I can sell that for.

^ I’d agree. My traded in MY10 D4 HSE is still not taxed and the MOT runs out on the 16th - which leads me to assume it’s still on a forecourt or auction site somewhere. I suspect for a few quid more folk would go for a 8 speed EU6 and avoid the eye watering £550 a year VED and potential ££’s to drive into a city☹️ Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

Just seen a very nice 2015 HSE but not sure of the reliability (and cost of repair) of so many electrical systems. Are there any relatives issues I should be aware of?? Bow down
