PayPal gift means the sender of the funds pays any charges on the transaction and the Seller pays none.
It's the only real way of guaranteeing that the Seller gets the amount you are actually trying to send, sadly.

Paypal Gift - Buyer pays fees. No comeback. Designed for transferring money to a friend really.
Paypal Purchase - Seller pays fees. Comeback. Designed to pay for purchases.

CDS wrote:What about some kind of 'feedback' score Martin? A bit like the 'thanks' thing that goes on on some forums, crossed with ebay feedback score.......ie if you've bought from a member then click the 'trustworthy forum member' button?? No idea of the practicalities of coding such a system though?? So long as you can only score once from another member the abuse factor would be limited??
Any more news on starting this Martin?
I've bought and sold from here and touch wood so far not had any problems,
Even bought from a member quite a few people had issues with and my goods were delivered no problem.
I am in agreement with some on here that PayPal as gift is my preferred means of money transfer,
I can't take card payments so other than a cheque in the post which will take time to clear etc then the buyer/seller gets fed up waiting, what can I do?

Sorry to hear that ....
Should name and shame the member so others don't get caught out by them
After all I take this forum as part of the family , ive dealt with a few members on here for goods sold and bought, would never think of robbing any of you and the same back any one would rob me .
Shame on you who ever you are

I know I am new on here but what about setting up a bank account and all transactions are paid into this and then when all is ok the money is transferred to the seller? Obviously would not work for large payments like a car purchase but may be viable for most stuff sold and possibly an admin member could once a day go through and assess and act on all payments made and send onwards if necessary. I know this sounds like a pain but must be more secure and no paypal fees. I would dream of suggesting it if there were 100's of items sold everyday. 2006 TdV6 HSE.

Sorry. I wasnt trying to cause trouble. Just trying to help think of a secure way of people paying each other without Paypal bending them over and pulling their pants down with charges 😱😱 2006 TdV6 HSE.

No worries ...although the site is a vehicle for buying and selling, the site admin can't be involved as administers of payments

I know this is an old thread and I am guilty of paying a forum member on here by PP gift but when that member is valued and well know I though I'd be in safe hands and despite me phoning them and sending PMs I still have not received my part. I am loathed as what to do, do I call them out, send another PM ask an admin to have a quite word or what any thoughts appreciated
