Quick question: is this recommended for the TDV6 motor? Not familiar with the C1 reference. 5W30 looks like the right one though. I like to change oild pretty regularly, but have used Magnatec previously. Or the delo gold in previous vehicles that worked a bit harder - but not sure that's available here or even if the specs would be the same.

For the 3.0 litre TDV6/SDV6 with a DPF, yes it is the correct specification oil. If in doubt, check your manual.
5w30 purely relates to the viscosity. You need to make sure you have the correct specification as well as the viscosity.Kev

Thanks Keith. So C1 is correct for 2005 HSE TDV6? I've read that B1/B3 is the right one? Bit of a minefield it would seem... I'm thinking I'll just stick with the Magnatech...

A 2005 will be a 2.7 without a DPF so C1 is not the correct spec.
C1 is for 3.0 with a DPF.Kev

Thanks. I'll check in the manual or somewhere else for the correct spec. But I'm leaning on staying with what I'm using...

I think your oil needs to meet spec WSS-M2C-913B or C so make sure that it's stated on the bottle.
The C1 oil for the 3.0 with DPF needs to meet spec WSS-M2C934-B ie. ACEA C1.
I usually buy my oil direct from the distributors in 20 litre containers as with my Castrol C1 in the below picture. At this price though, I'll be using Shell when I run out of Castrol as it works out a lot cheaper.
I think I should have enough for a couple of years. My wife thinks I have 'a problem'

Look on the back of the Magnatec. They usually put A5 on the front ( 'A' being a petrol spec. Oil). This maybe suitable if it has 'Bx' (B1/B2/B3/B4/B5) on the back of the can also.
B5 is the most up to date of the B oils.
As stated:
5/30 is the grade.
C1 is DPF models.
B5 is for non DPF models.
