C1A35-01 reservoir valve
Hello,
I have got a new suspension problem and I need some expertise or confirmation. Today when asking the car to go to offroad mode it raised slowly and I got a message after some time that the car is rising (in Swedish so I don´t know the exact words in the English message). No other warnings at all. I got suspicious so I checked the error codes and I get C1A35-0, reservoir valve. If cleared it comes back as soon as I try to raise the car. Looking at the input values the system tries to open the reservoir valve for a second but immediately goes back to 0 %. Car is still raised but using the compressor alone without the pressure in the reservoir. The system is not trying to open the reservoir valve again until I clear the fault code.
I suspected corroded wires/connectors so I measured the voltage at the reservoir valve connector itself and during the second the valve is actuated it got power. I assume this means the wiring/connectors are all fine and the valve itself is gone? I haven´t really seen many reservoir valve related problems discussed in the forum. Is it a common problem or unheard of?
Thanks,

I really need your help now...
I have changed the reservoir valve for a new one. Didn´t help. I have also hunted for corroded/damaged wires. If I have understood correctly what I have seen on my car the wires for the reservoir valve and compressor runs all the way to the large connector behind the left head light. It seems to look a bit different compared to the D3. I actually found that one of the wires from the reservoir valve was damaged and corroded close to the connector behind the head light. Fixed it and was pretty convinced I had solved it. I have not...
Problem persists. The code C1A35 is immediately set as soon as the software tries to open the reservoir valve. Other than the fault code I have no suspension warnings and the car is going to offroad height but using the compressor only without the help from the reservoir. It takes time so the display says "Car is raising" a couple of times.
I have tried to enable EAS proceedure but that doesn´t help.
Good ideas are greatly appreciated!

Hi Marco and thanks for your reply,
My suspension problem story started with occasional "Normal height only" warnings and C1A20-64 which means the reservoir is not filling fast enough. Was expecting to find the old Hitachi compressor with a cracked lid but the car has an AMK. When looking for leaks using soapy water I realized I had a leak between the dryer unit and the compressor so I have changed the seal and also changed filters and dryer media in the dryer. The compressor seems to be fine now without leaks.
The C1A35-01 fault came after the above problem but before I had a chance to fix the compressor dryer unit. It has not been intermittent but is always there. If I delete the error code the software tries to energize the reservoir valve (as seen by checking live values on my Nanocom) but immediately sets the C1A35 fault code. The car displays no warnings just the "Vehicle is raising" information as it takes time since the compressor does not have help from the reservoir.
I don´t think the dryer is the problem and I don´t really see how a faulty exhaust valve could cause this but I know these cars aren´t always logical... Shouldn´t I see error codes referring to problems with venting the gallery if dryer or exhaust valve where involved?
Thanks,

You need to check wiring continuity between the RLM and reservoir valve
Though I have seen this caused by the reservoir valve pipework being refitted incorrectly...My D3 Build Thread

Thanks Mike
The problem with the reservoir valve started with the old one and I am pretty sure I fitted the tubes correctly in the new one. Fault is the same so probably the valve itself is not at fault.
Checking wires it is. Not easy to see possible problems as the loom is really well packed in/hidden. At least I can check from the RLM and to the connector behind the head light and from the connector to the valve. What would be the best solution if I find I lack continuity? New wires outside the loom spliced in to the connectors?
Thanks,

Hello again,
I have now measured continuity of the cables involved in the reservoir valve and... found nothing wrong . Put it all together again and cleared all fault codes and suddenly the car is working as it should again. I suspect I have "cleaned" the connectors when doing the measurements but I have really no idea why it suddenly starts to work. Lets see how long it takes for it to go bad again...
Thanks again for your inputs!

hi could you tell me if this fault has reappeared or stayed away as I have this exact same problem have done the same as you but unfortunately the fault still persists, also had the exact same thing in 2015 on this same vehicle and as far as I can remember it just went away after several weeks only to return a few weeks ago
I'm now running out of things to check now so any help would be great the system seems to work as its always worked except for the rear is not rising fast from the reservoir helping itplease excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

Hi,
I had almost forgot about this problem... Still have the car and the fault has not come back yet. Car has done more than 100.000 km since march 2017 so it seems to hold up, whatever I did…
