CABIN NOISE WHEN REAR WINDOWS OPEN
Our vehicle is extremely noisy when travelling at over 40mph if either or both of the rear windows are open whilst the front windows are closed. Infact it sounds as though a helicopter is directly above, you cannot hear yourself think. Does this happen to you or is it just our car.
We will be taking the vehicle in for a Total Vehicle Enhancement Programme, Air Service Action and a new rear seat belt shortly. We have already had a replacement compressor for the air suspension which seems to be working fine but have been told we need to have it replaced again. Whilst it is we thought we would mention about the wind noise so any feedback would be great.
By the way thanks for the info on the tailgate struts, we checked ours and one was very loose.

Both of my D3s do the same, the buffeting is really bad unless U open the corresponding front window a little. My old D2 did the same thing, just got used to opening front & rears together.

I've had this on all of the recent cars I've owned - opening the front ones as well seems to lesson it - but do you not find that the buffetting is accompanied with pressure fluctuations which are very uncomfortableSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I am told that the buffeting goes away at speeds above 75mph.
Although, you will have had all your innards sucked out through your eye balls by the time you get there.
There was a thread on here a while back about it.... basically air can't get back in as quick as it's being sucked out, show you just how to how air-tight the D3 is ISTR it even mentions it in the handbook somewhere The End

I thought this 'approach' is even recommended in the Manual.
I am sure I've read it somewhere?Dave
