Cabin Pre-Cool!!?

Right - we've heard a lot about the defective set up of the cabin pre-heater - & yes I know it's only March....BUT, it was 18C here today, so...you've guessed!!..I tried the cabin pre-cool Wink & it works. Using the same sequence as the pre-heat, I set it up, switched off, turned radio back on (useful as I then sat waiting to see what it did!!) & sure enough shortly after the pre-set time (maybe 15/20 secs) the fans started "humming" & cool air was fed into the car. Very useful indeed & I can certainly imagine that in the height of the summer this could be near-vital with the amount of glass in the car. Several things I need to check, or perhaps other Disco3 members can help? - I had the a/c on economy so I don't know whether it would have activated the a/c if it was on normal (it was simply air circulation from the fan (BUT definitely no fuel burning heater running!), also I don't know if the radio trick is necessary and what the time limit is ie do you have to be within 2 hrs of the start time for it to work even with the radio?
This should certainly add fuel to the fire with the LR Regional Technical Manager who is meant to be meeting me tomorrow to discuss the various issues - interesting to hear how he explains away this further (possibly part-) working feature... the standard LR answer:- "it's not there, & even if it is we are going to remove it anyway"!!!? Wink

I think that the pre-cool can only introduce fresh external air to the cabin, I can't see how it can possibly cool it using using the aircon system, as the compressor is engine driven, and the evaporator relies on forward motion, or the powerful fan on the radiator to work.

Sending you a PM ref. pre-heater issue.

I have to say, the Pre-cool option has only appeared on mine since the update. I have never tried it yet though.

Has been on mine all the time! & it was an early build - just I;d never got round to testing it due to the winter weather. It is basically exactly as you woudl expect a Webasto to function, creating a flow of air circulation within the car to replace the heated air with cooler external air. Very Happy

Perhaps to be more accurate, I should say I only noticed it after the update.

If you go to Settings, the first option is cabin pre-heat. If you do not set this (leave on OFF), then press the advance button on the steering wheel, the next optionis Pre-Cool, and you can again set this to off or 30 minutes.
