Cable route to dash for roof mount spots
Hi guys,
I've got 4 spots that I plan to mount to front of my D3 rack. What is the best cable route to battery and to dash for the switch.
Also, when I get to the dash how and where have you all mounted your extra light switches??
Thanks.Cogito ergo sum!

Better to route the cable to the rack externally , mine goes up from second battery box under the A pillar trim, you can carefully lift the edge against the screen to get the cable under .
As my D4 has no ignition barrel , my switch for them is on the steering column cover, but as I'm adding more switches it will move to the overhead light unit Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Thanks both.
What then is best route into dash from engine bay. Is there a handy little grommet somewhere I could utilise per chance?Cogito ergo sum!

Cool, thanks.
Was looking that little plastic bit to left of Speedo this morning as suggested. Looks the perfect place to slot a few switches.
But how easy it to get that out to get the switches actually fitted to it?Cogito ergo sum!

As the others have done up the outside front pillars but I put my switches in the interior light panelPot Noodle Challenge Winner 2011

Understand re pillar and getting cable into the vehicle, thanks though. Got that part but I was thinking more about switch fittement now.
I dont want it in interior light fitting, think I'd like to keep it in dash area, as per Pete K suggestion but how easy is it to get to that area. How much of the dash will I have to strip out to get the switch in there.Cogito ergo sum!

All mine up here as there was plenty of space & not easily knocked by kids yet easy to access. Donor panel was £20 from a breakers.
My other thought had been on panel in front of cubby/cooler box

Does look smart above interior light actually. That pic may have changed my mind
The other idea I was toying with which is a bit lazy I must admit was to just wire it into the full beams as the current two spots on the nudge bar are. Then just disconnect them for MOT Cogito ergo sum!

Professorpool. Full beam only used when no other cars about in any case isn't it so who'd know Unless you happen to come across one of those numptys that forget to turn theirs off when they meet oncoming traffic Cogito ergo sum!
