Cambelt and oil pump cost Bedford

Hi all

Due to uncertainty I think I’m going to get cambelt and oil pump changed in my 05 D3.

What is a reasonable cost? And anyone want to come to Bedford and do it, or 3!

Thanks

Not sure if this helps but when I lived down south we got all our work done by Alymer Motors in Potters Bar. Appreciate it is a slog from Bedford (about an hour) but they are good and Landrover specialists. Ask for Martin as he runs it. It isn’t the prettiest garage to look at but they are decent and helped me out on various occasions.

Is expect about a thousand pounds using original parts. The oil pump is quite expensive from LR.

There are two places I know - one in Milton Keynes (Tongwell), and one in Reading.

BME Tongwell Milton Keynes - I only know of their reputation with a friend's friend.
Rovertune in Reading - because I have been working opposite them!

The pump is £176.40 - less forum discount from forum sponsors Advanced Factors:-

AF helpfully publish fitting instructions here:-

http://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/ekmps/sho...l-pump.pdf

I would expect the total cost to be substantially less than £1k from an experienced indie. It certainly was when mine was done by West 4x4.

I'd also add that whilst I haven't ever done the work on these cars, I don't believe it's difficult ( I have built several landies from scratch, and changed more cambelts than I care to remember over the years.

I'd happily help you do it one weekend - or you'd have to leave me with the car for about a week whilst I did it in my spare time!

As John Watson says this thread is worth reading, if you haven't already done so.

should be less than £500 from a decent Indy including the 'proper' genuine pump, I recently had the 7 year service done (again) a couple of other small items and had the pump done for less than £1400 Thumbs Up

I use an Indy in Houghton Regis (handy since I'm in Dunstable), it's a bit closer to Bedford than some of the other suggestions.

I paid something less than € 1200 recently in my D3 MY 06, for everything, ie original LR oil pump, crankshaft seal, toothed belt with its tensioners and screws, engine oil, drain screw and gasket and oil filter and coolant plus the corresponding labor!
 lost in translation!
