Camper electrics

Been watching this guy and thought it was interesting the way he’s wired up the control panel , so can switch over from what ever the incoming power source is

Very neat. That's almost identical to the control panel on my dad's canal boat (even the same selector switch) where you can select between 12v inverter or 240v shore power to power the mains sockets in the boat. I think when set to shore power, it also charges the leisure batteries whereas they are normally charged from the engine.

I think that's one thing that this is missing here - a charger, so that when set to mains input it also charges the leisure batteries?

If you open the text under the video when in small screen he usually puts links there for everything he uses

I did a very similar set up for our horsebox build and catered for all eventualities. Dependant on how long we are away and whether the site has hook up facilities or not...
I didn’t go down the solar panel route as I knew it would just get ripped off the roof by the low hanging branches around here.

I went down the mains plug in route using a domestic RCB and many sockets around the truck including a couple of external ones..
I used the same selector switch to select an on board generator if no plug in is available which is large enough to power the water heaters, microwave and air conditioning if required.

The lighting circuits all run off the 12v leisure batteries on board which also has a mains inverter connected for quiet running.

Both circuits when live also connect to on board battery chargers to charge not only the leisure batteries but the 24v lorry batteries as well....

The circuits he use are almost the same...hence I try to keep the original lorry 24v circuits separate from the 12v living accommodation.... so if it all goes wrong at least I can drive the damn thing home!

Hi Andy F

Many thks, thing is I wondered where he got the metal panels from around the fuse lid surround , unless they come with it

Looking forward when I can start building up the system to have the solar connected to my dual batteries

Will also have to ensure I have the facility to plug my CTEK in if so required , currently use the 12s socket for that

Got to finish up my aux fuse box that’s being installed in me upper glove box first Thumbs Up
