I am thinking of taking the tin tent to France at the end of July.
I am looking at campsites in northern France.
Taking the ferry from Poole, portsmouth to Cherbourg, I have used this route before, so looking in that sort of area
Any thoughts or recommendations, previous experience?
Cheers

Les Catels all seem to be pretty nice. It's a bit cheaper to book direct if you can.
Stayed here last year, was good. Not the biggest site but a lovely location and plenty to do.
About 600 miles door to door from Reading.

To me the end of July means the beginning of August and the French go on holiday in August!
Obviously if that is your only opportunity then you have to go for it.
I find September one of the best times to go, especially to the south.

Depends on what you want. But if you want some peace and quiet then try le puits in Normandy. Great site huge pitches great place to do nothing. Though close to the beaches in Normandy. Best campsite for relaxing I have been on. If you have teenage kids though they may get bored there.

Southern France It's near Le Mans - that's not Southern France It's not even mid Fance!
Try this one http://www.campinglesrivages.com/BIENVENU_GB.htm - now this one is in Southern France and the Gorges du Tarn area is truly spectacular Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

How long does it take to get just south of La Rochelle? We're getting 7pm train so hopefully the kids will sleep most of the way.....
