Could anybody recommend a campsite in the Lake District that would allow a roof tent and another tent(RV4) at the side of the car also with a electric hook up. I don't want clubs or bars on site but would like it with-in walking distance or on a bus route so we could leave tent set up and go into town for a day out. We are going next week. It will be my wife,s first time for about 10 years so I don't want it too remote as she will still want to "Look round the shops "

Try the one in Hawkshead,
Sorry don't do camping so don't know what it's called.
Just know it's there as we stayed a few times at the Cuckoo Brow at Far Sawrey and walked into Hawkshead.
Worth a try

Weather forecast not too bad Mark
Are you taking the RV4 in case you get Acrophobia?
10 years is a long time to go without

At this very moment I'm lying in my tent in a campsite in the Lakes.
It's Low Wray, a National Trust site on Windermere waterfront between Ambleside and Hawkshead.
Nice quiet site with all forms of outdoor camping - tepees, yurts etc, so I'm sure they'll be able to accommodate you....... always on the road less travelled 🚧
< ‘tis but a mere scratch …….. it’ll polish out.
Sorry I thought that was the name of the area It looks very good thanks

We stayed at the one just outside Hawkshead last month. Will be going back. Only a few pitches have hookups and the rest are a mixture of flat to slopping. Was a nice site and just a 5-10 minute walk into the village via a footpath so no on road.D4 MY15 SE TECH

I think it was the one I looked at on the inter-web last night Andy. I will let Deb have a look and make the final decision as i am happy anywhere. That way there is no comeback on me except for "why did you bring me camping anyway ? "
