Camping trailer heating ideas

Starting to add/modify my camping sankey trailer that I recently bought for Iggy. Next on the list is heating.

What have folk done to add heat to their setups?

First idea is to add a log burner to the awning, already a hole "cut" for a flue.

Something like this,

Just wanting to see what others are doing??? Thumbs Up

P.S. will start a build tread shortly.

I put an eberspacher ( diesel night heater ) in my first trailer .

When I built my second I put propex heater in .. this one is gas and I didn't see the point in carrying gas and diesel.

Obviously already carring gas for cooking Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies so far.

The electric fan heater I'm ruling out. Trying to keep power consumption down.

I had looked as night heaters but they are quite expensive. Are they very effective? (Did get the idea from seeing your trailer at Peterborough)

4 votes to propex Thumbs Up have been having another look at them, how do you get the heat to where would like? I would imagine like flexible conduit/extractor hose to direct air?

We have a oz tent & awning off to the side of our trailer, so trying to think how the air would circulate.

The only issue I had with the fire, was that you couldn't move it about - heated the awning nicely, but not the Oztent, but propex sounds good and I'm considering for my new set-up

Still go for a fire though as it has other benefits Whistle

Can't beat a fire Iggs , but the propex can run over night and unattended.

Kev, yes flexible ducting, I run that to the outside of the trailer, then drain pipe up into the RT Thumbs Up

I do indeed run the same as Beanie Thumbs Up
Is a good little heater. Under Wiggs expert advice I have attached a digital thermostat on a remote lead in the roof tent (although not quite finished yet) so is nice and easy to control. The flexible ducting allows it to be piped where ever you want too Mr. Green

Atm I only have the outlet up to the roof tent as I am going to put a wood burner into the awning for heat there Thumbs Up

Excellent, thanks very much.

This whole camping this is relatively new to me, so hints/tips are appreciated. Camping is normally 35'x12' static caravan with double glazing Whistle

The newer versions like the HS2000 mentioned above (the blue one) are around that new yep.

I got my 1600 second hand on eBay and paid about £120 if I remember correctly. You just have to go careful as a lot of them are sold untested. However they are quite simple to take part and try to get going Thumbs Up

Yeah the new systems aren't cheap. Been trolling through ebay and gumtree, there are lot more diesel systems available second hand. Think I will keep an eye out for a bargain, unless anyone is wanting to sell there's?? Whistle

Decided to get a wood burner as well for the awning in the mean time and will sort the tent out when something suitable turns up.
